The Department of Local Affairs’ (DOLA) Colorado Main Street Program (COMS) is proud to welcome the Town of Timnath as a new designated ‘Colorado Main Street’. The Town joins 31 other Colorado communities — including Pagosa Springs — and over 1,300 communities nationwide participating in the Main Street program, which supports community-led downtown revitalization through technical assistance, funding, and other resources.
The Town of Timnath joined the Colorado Main Street program to preserve its authenticity while building a vibrant, lively, and distinct downtown that reflects the heart of the people who call it home.
“Each Main Street community offers a unique mix of history, culture, small-town atmosphere, and outdoor recreation. We are proud to welcome the Town of Timnath into the program to support them in their economic development efforts as they embrace, enhance, and preserve the elements that make their community so special,” said Colorado Main Street Program Manager Gayle Langley.
“What I love most about our downtown is that it’s lived in, imperfect, and full of character, more like your grandma’s quilt than something polished and picture-perfect,” says Katie Gibson, Timnath Main Street Board Chair.
Eighteen Colorado Communities Receive National Recognition
Beyond welcoming new communities into the program, Colorado Main Street is pleased to announce that 18 Colorado communities have achieved National Main Street designations for 2026. Colorado Main Street works with local program personnel and boards of directors to evaluate performance and impact using rigorous national community evaluation standards to recognize each local program for its work in revitalizing downtown districts and supporting small businesses.
Main Street America, the national coordinating body, accredits these communities for their commitment to preservation-based economic development and community revitalization. The announcement highlights how grassroots programs create jobs, rehabilitate historic buildings, and foster resilient local economies.
