A magical evening will take place in the grand ballroom of the Ross Aragon Community Center, where Archuleta Seniors Inc. (ASI) will host its second annual Masquerade Ball on Saturday, September 26 from 6 to 9pm.
There is a certain kind of magic in watching a community put on its finest gowns, suits and masks, for a cause it believes in.

This “Masque-R-Aid” fundraiser invites the Pagosa Springs community to gather for an evening of live music from SoulFire, dinner prepared by our own award-winning chef Cynthia Sperry, dancing, a costume contest, a silent auction featuring fabulous getaways, and a cash bar featuring beer, wine, hard seltzer and a signature cocktail.
Behind the glamour and mystery of the masks lies a very clear purpose: Every ticket sold and every dollar raised helps ASI to continue delivering meals, connection and care to Archuleta County’s senior community.
“This event is about more than a great party,” said Crystal Gillich, ASI board member. “It’s about our Pagosa Springs community coming together, behind the masks, to make sure our seniors are seen, supported and cared for.”
ASI has spent years quietly doing some of the most essential work in the region.
Through its Meals on Wheels program, the organization delivers hot, nutritious meals directly to homebound seniors who might otherwise go without and fosters connection over shared meals in our community café. But the mission extends well beyond meals. ASI also provides health resources, educational programming and a variety of social opportunities designed to help local seniors age with dignity, independence and connection to their community.
No senior is ever turned away for an inability to donate.
For many of the seniors ASI serves, these programs are not simply conveniences; they are lifelines. A warm meal delivered to the door is also a wellness check, a familiar face and a reminder that someone cares. As the cost of living continues to rise and more seniors find themselves isolated, the need for these services has only grown.
That is where the Masquerade Ball comes in. Fundraising events like this one allow ASI to sustain and expand its programs, continuing to offer these services by suggested donation or free of charge to the seniors who rely on them.
Every gown twirled and every mask worn on September 26 will be doing double duty: creating an unforgettable night out… and quietly funding a year of support for our neighbors who need it most.
