Archuleta School District will present its summer junior musical, “The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition” playing August 13 through August 15 in the Pagosa Springs High School auditorium.
This bright and upbeat production is set to save the world.
The fifth- through ninth-grade cast and crew includes 40 community students plus three high school interns led by directors Katrina Thomas and Malinda Burnett. The experienced production team is rounded out with Heather Rose on sets, costumes, and stage managing; Leo Baughman as tech director; and Anika Borders as choreographer.
Based on the beloved animated series created by Stephen Hillenburg, the story brings the vibrant undersea community of Bikini Bottom to life on stage. When a nearby volcano threatens to erupt and destroy their home, SpongeBob and his loyal friends must team up to face the crisis head-on.
In addition to its heartwarming, relevant message, “The SpongeBob Musical” features an eclectic soundtrack written by an extraordinary lineup of legendary musical artists. Audiences will enjoy original songs by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady A, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants, T.I. along with songs by David Bowie, Tom Kenny, and Andy Paley.
“The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition” will show in the Pagosa Springs High School auditorium Thursday, August 13, at 7pm; Friday, August 14 at 11am and 7pm; and Saturday, Aug. 15, at 2pm.
