HIGHWAY 160 RECONSTRUCTION: Week of October 12-17

Crews clean up and prepare subgrade for sidewalk, curb, and gutter pouring operations after significant rainfall in the 100 Block of US 160.

The forecast continues to call for inclement weather, all project work is weather dependent. Crews may work consistent weekends, especially when work cannot be completed during the weekdays, due to inclement weather.

8th to 10th Streets – The southside of 8th to 10th Street is planned for milling operations and asphalt pouring, with milling planned for this week.
Pedestrian Safety|Watch Where You Walk! Pedestrian crosswalks are open at 4th, 7th, and 8th Streets as an alternative to access businesses along Lewis Street or anywhere on the 400 block. Our team continues to see pedestrians, not practicing good safety measures, jumping barricades and crossing US 160. Our work zone is extremely active in several locations and we want to keep everyone safe!

1st Street Intersection & 100 Block –1st Street is reduced to one lane alternating in each direction for planned utility work and paving operations. This reduction will be 7 days a week; 24 hours per day for two weeks. Crews will work around the rain forecasted to seal the concrete and switch traffic to the southside sometime this week.

4th Street Intersection – The northside of 4th Street is scheduled to be closed soon so that crews may finish paving connections in this intersection. Hot Springs will remain open for the duration of this work and the closure is anticipated to last three days.

5th Street intersection – 5th Street Intersection (southside) will remain closed as work continues. The Town of Pagosa Springs is continuing geothermal utility work for the coming week(s). Alternative delivery access for businesses on 5th Street will be through the old Courthouse parking lot. Crews will be continuing utility work at this location as well as planned asphalt paving operations as a part of the Town of Pagosa Springs work.

7th Street Intersection-Crews are prepping the southside of the 7th Street intersection for paving operations this week if weather permits. Please note that pedestrians and vehicles should utilize 5th and Lewis and 8th Streets as alternatives to cross US 160.

CDOT combined this intersection upgrade work with the current US 160 Pagosa Springs reconstruction project to capitalize on the efficiency of having the WW Clyde team already in place and familiar with the infrastructure and stakeholders in Pagosa Springs. CDOT and its contractor appreciate the continued patience and cooperation of businesses and the public as the project team works to safely complete this important improvement project.
