Unaffiliated gubernatorial candidate Rachel “Sunshine” Suh officially announced Drew Robertson as her running mate for Lieutenant Governor of Colorado, forming a ticket that places veteran welfare, responsible land stewardship, and independent governance at the center of Colorado’s 2026 race for the state’s top executive offices.
“Drew Robertson is exactly the kind of leader Colorado needs,” said Suh. “He has built something real — a sanctuary where veterans find healing and wolves find a home. He is not beholden to a party or a donor. He is beholden to the people of this state, and that is who we will serve.”
Robertson is the Founder and visionary behind Mattersville Vets, a first-of-its-kind residential community in Sedalia, Colorado, that houses and supports veterans struggling with PTSD and other personal challenges. At the heart of Mattersville’s therapeutic model is an extraordinary program pairing veterans with wolves and wolfdogs — animals whose pack-based social bonds and non-judgmental presence have proven profoundly effective in helping participants rebuild trust, purpose, and connection.
“Our veterans gave everything for this country, and too many come home to silence,” said Robertson. “At Mattersville, we give them a pack. We give them a reason to get up in the morning. That mission doesn’t stop at our property line — it’s the same mission I’ll carry to the Lieutenant Governor’s office.”
Robertson brings hands-on, practical experience in wildlife and forest management developed directly through the stewardship of Mattersville’s properties. As Colorado continues to reckon with record-setting wildfires driven in part by decades of inadequate forest management, Robertson offers a credible, experience-based voice on responsible land stewardship — one rooted not in ideology but in results on the ground.
Robertson’s expertise with wolves and wolfdogs also positions the Suh-Robertson ticket to meaningfully advance Colorado’s wolf reintroduction program, which has faced persistent friction between wildlife advocates and the ranching and farming communities whose livelihoods are directly affected. Robertson has long championed bringing all sides to the table to develop durable coexistence strategies that reduce dependence on lethal deterrents — a pragmatic, collaborative approach that has been largely absent from the conversation.
Both Suh and Robertson are registered unaffiliated candidates, accountable to no political party and no corporate donor class. Their campaign — operating under the motto “Your Voice. Our Priorities. Colorado First.” — is built on the belief that Coloradans deserve leaders who make decisions based on the needs of the state’s people, communities, and landscapes rather than the demands of party leadership or special interests.
