We honor the interdependent web of all existence. With reverence for the great web of life and with humility, we acknowledge our place in it.
It is fitting for this Sunday before Earth Day, for the Pagosa Unitarian Universalist Fellowship to hear a real-world message about the Earth, its resources and our responsibility to the planet.
Highlighting the challenges inherent in the transition from an extractive economy to a regenerative one, our speaker, Nicole Pitcher, LPEA Board President, will share an update on the future of energy in our region as the cooperative transitions to energy independence and new agreements for cleaner, locally generated energy with reduced cost and emissions. Transitions can be fraught with stress and despair and moved forward by joy, the resilience inherent in community, and the choices we all make every day.
Questions and comments will be welcome. We invite all into this conversation as we honor our Earth home and deepen our connection to respect for all, responsible stewardship of our shared resources, and a commitment to a sustainable future.

Nicole Pitcher is the Board President of La Plata Electric Association, representing Archuleta County. She was unanimously elected by her fellow directors to lead the cooperative during its transition to local control of power supply. Nicole and her family have built their life in Archuleta County. She is a mother, a homemaker, and part of a small family business in the community. She is deeply connected to the local outdoor community and the rivers, mountains, and landscapes that define this place. Like many in Pagosa Springs, she cares deeply about keeping this a place where people can afford to live, work, and stay rooted.
For the last Sunday of the month, April 26, we invite you to join us at Centennial Park, near the GGP Domes, for the local celebration of Earth Day. This annual, family-friendly event hosts community booths and an opening ceremony beginning with a drum circle to honor our Mother Earth. Come to the amphitheater just before 10:00 a.m. Bring a drum and stay for the opening ceremony.
We invite everyone to check out the website, PagosaUU.org for more information and updates from the UU Fellowship. The UU Community Hub offers space for a variety of opportunities for spiritual growth and connection. The Tara Meditation Group is held most Sundays, 5:30-6:30pm. If interested, email the Fellowship to be added to the list and receive information and notices about this weekly meditation practice. A Zoom option is available. Qigong practice is held at 1:00pm most Monday afternoons, and all are welcome. The Wise & Wakeful Circle, hosted by Elaine Harding and Sam Johnson, meets the second and fourth Saturdays at 10am.
The Pagosa UU Fellowship is located in the Greenbriar Plaza, Unit B-15, 301 N. Pagosa Blvd. on the north side facing the Pagosa Peak. We celebrate diversity and foster a spiritual home for those wishing to Make Friends, Grow in Spirit and Do Good.
