Following his resounding election victory, Gov.-elect Phil Weiser today announced a transition team to help him appoint leaders to state government positions who will help galvanize Coloradans to work together for a better future for us all. Weiser also launched his transition website where individuals can apply for positions in his administration and submit ideas to make state government work better.
All those who wish to apply for positions in the new administration are asked to submit their interest on the website. The website features a Join the Team link with specific job openings and a place for General Consideration for Future Opportunities, where candidates can add their interest area, resume, and a cover letter. The website also has a Submit an Idea link, allowing Coloradans to submit ideas for our state’s future.
With the goal of “Building Colorado’s Future, Together,” Governor-elect Weiser will move the state forward – making housing and health care more affordable, investing in our kids’ future, and growing our economy. The governor-elect said he is ready to lead Colorado, tapping into our state’s creativity, resilience, and collaborative spirit, starting with a transition that is ready to get to work.
“To meet our promise of building a better future for all Coloradans, we need talented leaders committed to public service in place throughout state government,” Governor-elect Weiser said. “Our transition will focus on developing the best team in the country to help me lead our state. To support that search, and the ultimate success of our new leaders, I have called upon seasoned, dedicated leaders for our transition teams. I am honored that these Coloradans have stepped up to help – as they share a commitment to serving the public with integrity and creativity, while listening and collaborating to get results. I am also asking all Coloradans to submit their ideas on our website on how to make state government function better and life better across the board for all who live here.”
To guide this transition team, Governor-elect Weiser named four Honorary Co-chairs who led our state through challenges in the past and know what’s needed today to get us on the best track for our future.
Weiser’s Transition Honorary Co-chairs are:
Former Colorado Gov. Roy Romer.
Federico Peña, former mayor of Denver, U.S. Transportation Secretary and U.S. Energy Secretary.
Ken Salazar, former Colorado Attorney General, U.S. Senator, Interior Secretary, and ambassador to Mexico.
Rebecca Kourlis, former Colorado Supreme Court justice.
The governor-elect also named four Transition Co-chairs who bring significant leadership experience to drive the teams’ work ahead.
Pat Meyers, former chief of staff to Gov. John Hickenlooper.
Omar Montgomery, President of the Rocky Mountain State Conference of the NAACP.
Meg Porfido, former general counsel and chief of staff to Governor Romer.
Alan Salazar, former chief of staff to Denver Mayor Michael Hancock.
Transition Committee Co-chairs will oversee seven areas of state government across multiple agencies.
