On Sunday, independent gubernatorial candidate Greg Lopez proudly announced Taralyn Romero as his choice for Lieutenant Governor, a selection that brings 25 years of healthcare industry expertise, a nationally recognized record of fighting government overreach, and the deep roots of a fourth-generation Coloradan to an independent ticket built around putting people first.
Born and bred in Colorado, Romero’s roots stretch from suburban neighborhoods to rural communities, giving her a unique grasp of the diverse challenges and opportunities facing families across the state. She grew up with a straightforward conviction: stand up for what’s right, especially when it’s the hard thing to do. That guiding principle carried her into corporate boardrooms, where she spent a career inside the healthcare system learning where waste lives and who pays the price, to the front lines of property rights battles across America. Now it brings her to Colorado’s Lieutenant Governor’s office.
Over the last two and a half decades, Romero has developed a clear view of the challenges a broken healthcare system under pressure can bring: patients losing access, families struggling to afford care while watching programs disappear, and providers stretched to the breaking point. She enters this race with a clear mandate from Greg Lopez: protect the services Coloradans count on by doing what too few in state government have been willing to do: go after the fraud, waste, and abuse driving the budget crisis so that
essential services can be spared the axe.
In addition to her healthcare expertise, Romero has become a passionate and outspoken advocate for property rights after Jefferson County filed suit to seize her backyard. What followed was a battle that transformed a healthcare executive into a nationally recognized voice for those suffering unjust takings.
She understands that for many Coloradans, property ownership represents not just financial security, but independence and legacy. She has consistently stood for protecting farmers and landowners, opposing overreach and ensuring that government respects constitutional rights.
“Taralyn Romero represents the very best of Colorado,” said Lopez. “She brings integrity, knowledge, and a deep love for this state. Her background in healthcare and her unwavering commitment to fighting for people makes her the right person to join me in helping lead Colorado forward.”
Romero added, “I’m honored to join this ticket and stand with Greg Lopez to fight for the people of Colorado. “Coloradans have watched their government break its promises, ignore their rights, and ask for their trust anyway. Greg Lopez and I are done with that arrangement. We’re not here to manage dysfunction. We’re here to end it.”
The Lopez–Romero ticket is focused on offering Coloradans a genuine alternative built not on party loyalty, but service to the people, by delivering practical solutions to the issues that matter most.
