On Saturday, six local families with eight kids gathered at the Pagosa Springs Community Garden to put their hands in the soil and participate in a garden art project. These families not only were able to support the maintenance of the community garden, but also made plant buddies to take home.
Fun was had by all!
Want to join in on the fun? The next Garden Adventures for families will take place on Saturday, August 2, from 9 – 10am in the Pagosa Springs Community Garden. Garden Adventures is a family-friendly way to get kids learning and having fun in the garden. Aimed at elementary-aged children and their families, this program is all about getting to know our downtown community garden—how plants grow, why gardening is good for us, and how it can help our whole town. The Pagosa Springs Community Garden is located downtown in Centennial Park next to the River Walk. The next Garden Adventure will focus on brightening the garden by painting signs and rocks to add color and information to the space. This is a family-friendly activity, and adults are encouraged to participate with their children.
Two more Garden Adventure sessions will be held in August, on Saturdays, August 16 and 30. To learn more about these sessions, please visit the events and happenings page on Healthy Archuleta’s website:
To further complement these family programs, Healthy Archuleta also hosts Garden Conversations in the Pagosa Springs Community Garden on the alternating Saturday mornings. Garden Conversations are a place for community members to enjoy the garden, talk with fellow gardeners, and have a conversation with local gardening experts.
The next Garden Conversation will take place on Saturday, July 26, from 9 – 10am. Bring a beverage and a chair and join us for a fun morning in the garden.
