Utility work continues on 7th Street, and preparations will begin this week for upcoming paving operations.
Crews will begin traffic pattern changes the week of September 14th. Motorists need to slow down and be on the lookout for traffic shifts throughout the project work zone.
The 7th Street intersection closure will continue through mid-September as crews work to complete utility and safety upgrades. Please note that pedestrians and vehicles should utilize 5th and Lewis and 8th Streets as alternatives to cross US 160.
Harman Park & Piedra Road
Work is scheduled to begin at this intersection of US 160 in mid-September. Working hours will be 9am to 3pm, Monday-Saturday. Please allow extra time to get through the work zone. Safety benefits of this work includes pedestrian safety upgrades and ADA accessibility improvements. Enhancements to the Harman Park & Piedra Road intersection include:
Removal of existing islands to be replaced with expanded islands to include ADA accessible ramps.
Installation of new sidewalks north and south of the intersection.
Signal enhancements to include pedestrian count-down lights and push buttons
Pedestrian Safety
Pedestrian crosswalks are open at 2nd, 3rd, 4th and Lewis Street as an alternative to access businesses along Lewis Street or anywhere on the 400 block. Our team continues to see pedestrians, not practicing good safety measures, jumping barricades and crossing US 160.
Our work zone is extremely active in several locations and we want to keep everyone safe!
