As the new school year kicks off and crisp, cooler weather settles into Archuleta County, Healthy Archuleta is excited to share several upcoming opportunities this season that support local children, youth, parents, and families. First, the September in the Garden Education Program will focus on practical, hands-on learning designed specifically for our local high-altitude environment. Throughout the series, participants will explore a variety of topics including fall crops, overwintering, soil health, garden bed preparation, growing in high-elevation climates, permaculture practices, and others.
The sessions will take place on Wednesdays, September 9, 16, and 23 from 9:30 – 11:00aM at the PLPOA Vista Community Production Garden. These three sessions offer an opportunity to gather outdoors, learn directly in a community garden space, and share experiences with fellow local growers. Classes will take place in the garden, and attendees are encouraged to dress for the weather, bring water, and sun protection. Garden tools and gloves will be available.
Child-Parent Relationship Therapy
Child-Parent Relationship Therapy is being offered again this fall. A free program for Parents and caregivers of children ages 3 to 10, CPRT is a supportive small-group program that helps caregivers strengthen connection, trust, communication, and confidence with their child. It offers practical tools and encouragement. The program will run on Thursday evenings (5:30 – 7 pm) from September 10 through November 12. Dinner and childcare are provided. Finally, Healthy Archuleta also invites residents to register for the Health Fair and Expo, which will take place on Saturday, October 24th from 7 am – 12 pm at the Pagosa Springs High School. The event will connect community members with low-cost wellness labs, health resources, screenings, information, and local support.
