Summer in Pagosa Springs isn’t complete without the Mountain Light Music Festival, and this year’s 11th season promises something for everyone.
Whether you’re a fan of classic rock, blockbuster movie soundtracks or simply spending an evening outdoors with family and friends, the festival offers three unique concerts that celebrate music, community, and the beauty of the San Juans.
The season will kick off on Saturday, July 25, with Windy City, an electrifying Chicago tribute band, performing at 7pm at The Springs Resort. Featuring the iconic horn-driven hits of Chicago, the band will have audiences singing along to favorites like “Saturday in the Park,” “25 or 6 to 4,” and “You’re the Inspiration.”
Concertgoers can upgrade to a VIP experience with reserved seating and drink vouchers. The evening will also feature a live speed-painting by artist Katy Von Kral, which will be raffled for an audience member to take home.
The music will continue on Wednesday, July 29, with a free pop-up trombone performance at Riff Raff Brewing Co. at 5pm, offering a fun preview of the festival’s talented faculty and students in a relaxed, family-friendly setting on the river.
On Thursday, July 30, the spotlight will turn to the Festival Trombone Choir for “Cinematic Sounds,” a lively concert at 7pm at the Liberty Theatre.
Audiences will enjoy memorable music from beloved movies, patriotic favorites and brass classics performed by an extraordinary en- semble of professional artists, faculty and outstanding college musicians from across the country.
The festival concludes with one of Pagosa’s favorite summer traditions: Music in the Meadow on Friday, July 31, at 6pm at the scenic Mountain Light Lodge. This free concert invites families and friends to spread out blankets, unpack picnic dinners, arrive by ATV or car and enjoy an evening of live music as the sun sets over the San Juan Mountains. Guests are encouraged to arrive early for assistance with parking, and the evening concludes with a reception featuring light refreshments.
