HIGHWAY 160 RECONSTRUCTION: Week of June 22-28

Hot Springs Boulevard intersection
Paving operations were anticipated to be completed by the end of the day on Thursday, June 18. This will allow the team to reopen Hot Springs Boulevard to traffic as well as open the overlook parking lot. Pedestrian detours remain in place in several locations through- out the project limits.

Fourth of July holiday
Crews will not be working July 3-6 in recognition of the holiday. The WW Clyde team will have a supervisor and traffic control spe- cialist on call over the weekend should any needs come up around the work zone.

Lewis Street
The intersection closure at Lewis Street and U.S. 160 remains in place. Please utilize 4th, 7th and 8th streets as an alternative to access businesses along Lewis Street. The good news is that the complex utility line work is mostly complete at this intersection. Crews have completed water utility work, wastewater utility work and electrical work. Some geothermal and stormwater utility work remains at this intersection, and is slated for the coming week, followed by concrete paving and sidewalk.

Question: Why has the Lewis Street intersection taken several months to complete?
Answer: Where Lewis Street intersects US 160 is one of the most difficult intersections the project team is working on. The underground utility work has included demolition and replacement of the geothermal, water and sewer lines from the bottom up. The Lewis Street intersection will then be built back with new ADA accessible curb and gutter and concrete paving.
