PHOTO ESSAY: The Chamber’s Inaugural ‘Grillin & Distillin’ Event

Introducin’… Grillin’ & Distillin’!

2025 marks the first time around for this event. The Pagosa Springs Chamber of Commerce showcased three BBQ chefs and four craft Distillers.

The inaugural year was small but those who powered through a little rain and cooler temps enjoyed the competition. The Hughes Pavillion at the Fairgrounds venue gives plenty of space for this event to grow.
Brisket, Ribs, Pork with rich and zesty sauces. Two professional food trucks and one backyard griller pulled out their best recipes. Everyone was a winner.

They welcomed the encouragement from tasters.

Custom cutting board trophies were awarded to the grillers. Bo Ciombor was the only back yard griller so he has some huge bragging rights winning every category!

Two bands entertained nicely all afternoon: Tylor Brandon and SolOverLuna.

In the commercial division local Robert Martinez – Roberts BBQ – won trophies for Ribs and Beans and Earl Gibbs – Tio Earls BBQ – won brisket and chicken plus Peoples Choice.

The Colorado crafted spirit distillers were all very glad to participate. Tastings give a real appreciation for the dedication, knowledge and hard work distillers put into so many different creations. They were anxious to describe every detail of the effort.

Neil Sullivan – Spirit Hound Distillery – from Lyons, CO won the crystal People Choice trophy.

There were many other distiller event opportunities around the state on the same weekend he was sure glad he came to Pagosa. Several vendors were on hand to offer unique food, products and services.

Another Thank You to the Chamber team: Sandy, Angela, Ana and Mary Jo!
