Town Staff Reminds Community About Snow on Streets, Sidewalks

As colder weather approaches, the Town of Pagosa Springs is preparing for winter road conditions and reminding residents how they can help keep our streets safe and accessible.

The Town maintains approximately 30 miles of streets, and snow removal schedules depend on storm conditions, temperatures, and traffic. Residents can help snowplow crews work safely by following a few important reminders:

  • Keep streets clear: Do not park on designated snow routes during storms. Parking on Highway 160, including downtown Pagosa Street, is prohibited from 2–6am.
  • Give plows room: Stay at least 200 feet behind snow removal equipment and never attempt to pass a working plow.
  • Clear sidewalks: Property owners are responsible for clearing adjoining sidewalks by noon the day after a storm.
  • Plan for snow berms: Residents are responsible for clearing snow left across driveways by Town plows.
