LETTER: More Information Needed Before School Bond Vote

In Mr. Hudson’s editorial series “Thinking About The School Bond Measure”, he reports that the measure, if approved, will increase school district debt by $79.9 million with a repayment cost to taxpayers of $156.5 million.

The editorial series also reports that the $79.9 million is an estimate and is not based on any architectural or engineering drawings. If the actual cost of the new school is more than provided for by the bond measure, where will the additional funds come from?

Given the inveterate propensity of construction projects to exceed their budgets, I think this question should be addressed and answered now.
