One of my favorite parts of every performance happens after the curtain call.
Many people don’t rush for the parking lot. They linger in the lobby, talking about what they just saw. Someone who laughed all the way through Company asks if Come From Away is really as moving as everyone says. A couple who just saw Fiddler on the Roof starts making plans to come back for another show. Those conversations remind me why repertory theatre is such a special experience.
This summer, the same company of artists is bringing three completely different Broadway musicals to life, often changing characters, costumes, and even worlds overnight. They make it look effortless. I can assure you, it isn’t. What this company accomplishes every week is remarkable, and I couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve created together.
It’s also been incredibly rewarding to watch this community embrace the season. From opening nights and standing ovations to conversations in the lobby and around town, you’ve reminded all of us that live theatre is at its best when it’s shared.
None of it happens without an extraordinary group of people. Our actors, musicians, directors, designers, technicians, volunteers, board members, sponsors, and staff have all played a part in making this season possible, and I’m grateful for every one of them.
There’s still plenty ahead. Our Youth Theatre students are preparing to take the stage, we’ll celebrate our Henry Award nominees later this month…
…and one of my favorite nights of the year, the Broadway Gala and Secret Show, is just around the corner.
