Pagosa Community Initiative has wrapped up an amazing After School year and celebrated a successful Second Chance Prom, and now we’re fully into Summer Camp season. While soaking up all the summer fun, we’re also planning ahead for Back to School and looking forward to being part of community events and 4th of July festivities throughout the summer.
Summer Camp in Full Swing
Summer is off to a great start at PCI. We’ve wrapped up our two-week “Kick Off to Summer” program and are now diving into our smaller, adventure-based GET Wild Child camps, which will continue throughout the summer. Keep an eye out for the PCI buses around the community as our campers explore all that Pagosa has to offer.
Looking for a fun way to support our programs? Consider sponsoring an ice cream party for the kids after a long day of summer adventures.
Mom’s Night, Friday June 19
Mom’s Night continues to be a favorite PCI program, giving moms a chance to connect, relax, and enjoy some well-deserved time together. Our next free gathering will be tomorrow, Friday, June 19. Childcare can be arranged. Call or text Randye at 970-585-6253. Spaces are limited and these events fill quickly, so don’t wait to sign up.
Second Chance Prom Breaks Records
What an unforgettable evening! Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, PCI’s Second Chance Prom was our most successful fundraiser yet—raising nearly three times what we brought in last year and more than double our original fundraising goal.
A major highlight of the night came when an anonymous donor stepped forward and committed to matching donations up to $36,000, creating an exciting wave of support and generosity throughout the event.
Our silent auction was a tremendous success, with more than 100 auction items sold, and the competition for Prom King and Queen brought the energy to a whole new level. Congratulations to Kevin and Julia Wood, who were crowned Prom King and Queen after raising an astonishing $15,120 in support of PCI’s programs and services.
Beyond the fundraising success, the evening was filled with laughter, dancing, community spirit, and plenty of memorable moments. We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, bid in the auction, and helped make the event such a success.
A special thank you goes to our generous food and beverage donors who helped make the evening truly special: Ritual Food Truck, Subway, Rosie’s Pizzeria, Bad Donkey Bakery, Patria, Bootlegger, and Chef’s Custom Cuisine. Your support helped create a fantastic experience for all who attended.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in PCI’s mission and investing in the wellness and success of local children, youth, and families. We can’t wait to see you at next year’s Second Chance Prom.
Celebrate the 4th with PCI
Watch for PCI during the 4th of July festivities. We’ll be driving through the parade, so be sure to give our little bus a big cheer as it goes by. You’ll also find us at the town celebration, where we’ll have lots of games & activities. Stop by, say hello, and join in the fun.
Support the PCI School Supply Drive
PCI is already preparing for Back to School, and we have exciting plans to help local students start the year ready for success. With the rising costs, many families and classrooms will need extra support. Donations to our School Supply Drive help ensure kids have the tools they need to learn while also easing the burden on local teachers and parents. Join us in helping set community kids up for a great school year!
