Archuleta School District (ASD) will feature its bands and choirs at its upcoming spring concerts at Pagosa Springs High School (PSHS).
ASD Combined Spring Band Concert
The festivities will begin on Thursday, May 7, with the Spring Band Concert.
Under the direction of PSHS Band Director Leo Baughman and Pagosa Springs Middle School (PSMS) Band Director Malinda Burnett, the evening will feature a diverse repertoire performed by the PSHS and PSMS bands. From classical arrangements to contemporary wind ensemble pieces, the concert highlights the technical precision and collaborative spirit of the district’s instrumental programs.
‘Spring into Song’: Combined Choral Concert
The musical journey will continue Friday, May 8, with “Spring into Song,” a combined choral extravaganza.
This special event brings together the PSHS and PSMS choirs, joined by a special appearance from the Pagosa Springs Elementary School (PSES) Fourth Grade Honor Ensemble. Led by Baughman (PSHS choir director), Katrina Thomas (PSMS choir director) and Anika Borders (PSES music teacher), the evening promises a vibrant celebration of vocal harmony, ranging from youthfulchoral energy to sophisticated high school arrangements.
Both concerts will be held at the PSHS auditorium beginning at 6:30pm and are open to the public. Community members, families and music lovers are encouraged to attend and support the fine arts in our local schools.
These concerts represent the culmination of a year’s worth of dedication, practice and passion. It is a rare and wonderful opportunity to see the progression of our music students all on one stage, from our youngest honor ensemble singers to our graduating seniors.
