As a young adult I remember hearing the news of a close friend who was involved in tragic car wreck. Thankfully he survived the crash… however, the hospital reached out to our small community asking for blood donations. Realizing the need and the potential of helping to save his life; we willingly gave blood.
Since that first time I have always made it a point to give blood and help save the lives of others.
The local phlebotomists report that the blood drawn in the middle of the week in Pagosa Springs is typically used within three days in hospitals throughout the Four Corners. Every two seconds someone needs a transfusion because of a traumatic injury, hemorrhaging, or an ongoing medical condition.
Please take time from your busy schedule to provide a blood donation at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1879 Majestic Drive, on Wednesday, May 13, from 1:30 to 6:00pm.
