The 2026 Archuleta Food Summit was more than a gathering; it was a powerful step forward in building a stronger, more connected local food system.
We extend heartfelt thanks to all who made the day possible: participants, speakers, facilitators, volunteers, growers, producers, musicians, station hosts, Chef Todd, and community partners. Your time, energy, and commitment brought this vision to life.
From the opening session to the closing conversations, the day reflected what’s possible when a community comes together. Attendees explored how local food systems drive economic opportunity, workforce pathways, and long-term resilience, followed by an immersive Food Hub & Food Hall experience with interactive stations across three zones: Agriculture & Growing, Business & Infrastructure, and Community & Education. The event also featured a farm-to-table lunch, facilitated community discussions, and recognition of local food system champions.
We are deeply grateful to Pagosa Springs High School for providing the venue for this Summit. The presence of families, children, and youth added a meaningful inter-generational dimension, making the gathering truly distinctive. We specifically want to commend the Middle School and San Juan Mountain School students; their participation in the Healthy Archuleta Youth Prevention program resulted in educational tobacco prevention posters that significantly enriched the event. From creative garden art to profound community dialogue, the Summit highlighted a shared commitment to lifelong learning and collective progress.
We are profoundly grateful for the leadership and active participation of our community members. Their dedicated involvement serves as a compelling reminder that our community’s future is exceptionally bright and guided by capable hands.
What became clear throughout the day is this: the Food Hub is no longer just an idea; it is a community-driven movement. As we listened, shared, and engaged, the path forward took shape. The Food Hub will play a critical role in advancing our local food system, supporting producers, increasing access to local food, and strengthening our rural economy.
This work continues, and there are many ways to stay connected and help shape what comes next:
