What happens when you mix a TED Talk with improv comedy?

Lickety-Split Comedy Improv announces a night of insight and delight… curiosity and comedy… this Friday, April 24 at 7:00pm as we delve into an anthropological mystery with our resident expert, John Kappelman, PhD.

This innovative improv project takes place at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts, 2313 Eagle Drive.

“The Experts” kicks off with a short lecture from a real expert… then Lickety-Split takes that material and spins it into a fully improvised comedy set. It’s smart, unpredictable, and genuinely funny. If you like to laugh and learn, this is the show for you.

We’ll be joined by improvisers from Durango and Cortez, including Cindy Laudadio-Hill and Tara Demmy, and our featrued Expert is John Kappelman, PhD, with a fascinating lecture entitled, “Cracking the Oldest Cold Case: How Lucy Died and Why It Matters.”

John Kappelman is Professor Emeritus at the University of Texas at Austin, where he taught for 35 years in Anthropology and Earth & Planetary Sciences. His research focuses on human origins and evolution, including paleoecology, functional morphology, and geochronology.

“The Experts” was originally created by Christy Bonstell and developed at Chicago’s iO Theater, and blends honest-to-goodness knowledge with spontaneous comedy.

As someone once said, “There’s something funny in everything.” Come see what the Lickety-Split team finds in “Lucy”.

Tickets are $15 in advance (get them online, here) or $20 at the door.

Show starts at 7:00pm and includes a brief intermission.
