Today, Friday May 5, and tomorrow, Saturday May 6, Archuleta County and the Town of Pagosa Springs will host the community’s annual ‘Big Spring Clean’.
Additionally, the Aspen Springs community and Sovereign Commons will be celebrating ‘Trash Fest’ at Ute Drive Park in Aspen Springs.
The ‘Big Spring Clean’ event consists of free dump days on Friday and Saturday and a community cleanup day on Saturday. This annual event is a great opportunity to band together with friends, family and other community members to show pride in our town and help make it even more beautiful. After the clean-up event, there will be a free and fun community barbecue with live music, awards and a homemade ice cream contest (in memory of Larry Fisher). Bring your lawn chairs.
Saturday ‘Trash Fest’ Festivities
Saturday’s festival activities in Aspen Springs will include a “Trash Swap” initiative at Ute Drive Park, where residents can bring reusable items such as windows, doors, and greenhouse panels to exchange with other Aspen Springs residents, promoting the repurposing of items and reducing waste.
Aspen Springs is home to a thriving community of local businesses, farmers, artists, and artisans, and the event will feature the Aspen Springs Market from 11:30am to 3pm. Local businesses, farmers, artists, and artisans can showcase their offerings at the market free of charge.
During the event, there will be a raffle held and drawings to raise funds for future cleanup initiatives and community projects such as community gardens and skill shares. Turn your trash into treasure by entering the raffle! Prizes include two VIP soaking passes to The Springs Resort, two oil change vouchers for Pagosa Express Lube (a $75 value each), a yoga 5-punch pass to PMAB, and many more! The raffle winners will be announced at 2:30pm (must be present to claim your prize).
Live music performances will also be held throughout the day, beginning at 11:30am and featuring local musicians Futurefolk and Carbon Red.
