The generals and bureaucrats in Washington DC have their panties in a wad over a Chinese balloon that meandered across the North American continent as part of an apparent Communist surveillance scheme.
The Communists over in China fired the chief of their national weather service Saturday, in an obvious effort to substantiate the claim that the device was an off-course weather balloon.
What the generals and bureaucrats in Washington forget, apparently, is that 95 percent of American adults between the age of 18 and 50 are holding a Chinese Communist spy device in their hands on a daily basis.
I was sitting in a local coffee shop in Pagosa Springs on Sunday, when I noticed an attractive young lady destroying her mind.
And my freedom.
She was watching TikTok videos on her phone.
(Although the Daily Post editor will likely add a link to ‘TikTok’ to this column — in the interest of what he stupidly refers to as ‘transparency’ and ‘freedom of speech’ — I strongly suggest that you do not click the link. You will understand why, further down this page.)
I didn’t vote for Colorado Congressman Ken Buck, because I don’t live in his congressional district, but my hat would be off to him, if I wore a hat. But I did vote for Colorado Senator Michael Bennet, which was almost as good as voting for Senator Joe McCarthy. Senator McCarthy, of course, passed away in 1957, but not before straightening out the American political landscape and destroying the lives of a lot of alleged Communists.
Luckily, we have Senator Bennet, and Rep. Buck to keep us safe. Bored, but safe.
Rep. Buck would like to make TikTok illegal in the United States. Last year, he introduced a bill banning TikTok from government devices, which passed and became law — and he has now introduced a bill in Congress that would direct President Biden to use the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to block and prohibit transactions with ByteDance, the Chinese Communist company that owns TikTok.
“TikTok is a clear threat to our privacy, and national security,” said Rep. Buck in a statement. “Not only is TikTok directly associated with the Chinese Communist Party, but it has been used to spy on Americans and gain an alarming level of access to users’ phones. This should concern every citizen who values their privacy, security, and personal information…”
Missouri Senator Josh Hawley sponsored the Senate version of the bill that banned TikTok from government devices. So at least our government is safe. Bored, but safe.
Colorado Senator Michael Bennet, meanwhile, wrote a pointed letter to Google and Apple, telling them to stop allowing people to download the TikTok app. Especially young people, I assume. Like that girl at the coffee shop.
I don’t recommend visiting TikTok (as stated above) because if you do, you are essentially selling your soul to the Chinese.
And putting my life at risk. China is run by Communists. And let’s not forget where COVID came from!
What have Apple and Google been thinking? Well, that’s the problem; they haven’t been thinking. They’ve been supplying us with any app that seems even mildly entertaining. But TikTok is different… and dangerous.
Senator Bennet wrote:
“Beijing’s requirement [that TikTok assist the Chinese government in collecting user information] raises the obvious risk that the Chinese Communist Party could weaponize TikTok against the United States, specifically by forcing ByteDance to surrender Americans’ sensitive data or manipulate the content Americans receive to advance China’s interests…”
I think Daily Post readers will agree with me when I say, the only government that should be manipulating content and collecting sensitive data to advance its interests, is our own federal government in Washington DC.
To those who might argue that our phones are all made in China, I assume Rep. Buck and Senator Bennet can provide a good explanation.
Of course, I, myself, would never make that argument. I’m too fond of my phone.
