Everyone Loves Tracy Stone-Manning

A raft of congratulatory emails arrived in our Daily Post mailbox yesterday, celebrating the US Senate’s confirmation of Tracy Stone-Manning as the Director of the Bureau of Land Management. Ms. Stone-Manning will be the first Senate-confirmed Director for BLM since the Obama administration.

Much of the federal land in Colorado is administered by BLM.

“Tracy Stone-Manning will be the partner Colorado and the West needs to make our new BLM Western Headquarters a success. Together we will protect our public lands.”
— Colorado US Senator John Hickenlooper

“In the face of our changing climate, we need a Senate-confirmed director who can rebuild the Bureau of Land Management into an agency that will restore and protect our public lands to sustain our economy in the West. Tracy Stone-Manning has spent her career listening to local input and working across the aisle to do just that, which is why I’d like to congratulate her on her confirmation today. I look forward to working closely with Tracy and Department of Interior leadership to ensure they follow through on their commitment to build and expand the BLM Western Headquarters in Grand Junction.”
— Colorado US Senator Michael Bennet

“The confirmation of Tracy Stone-Manning to serve as the next Director of the Bureau of Land Management is a victory for public lands and the people across the United States who use and enjoy them. We believe that Stone-Manning is well-qualified to help Secretary Haaland advance President Biden’s ambitious agenda to help protect our national parks and public lands, expand conservation, and combat climate change…”
— Phil Francis, chair of the Coalition to Protect America’s National Parks

“We are thrilled that such a qualified leader has finally been confirmed as the Director of such an important agency like the Bureau of Land Management. In serving in a variety of leadership roles over the last twenty years, Tracy has proven she is eminently qualified to lead the Bureau of Land Management and she knows what local elected officials and communities need…”
— Anna Peterson, Executive Director of The Mountain Pact

“After nearly five years without a Senate-confirmed leader at the helm of the Bureau and at a time when our public lands are suffering from prolonged drought, devastating wildfires, and other climate-fueled disasters, Tracy will bring visionary leadership and a collaborative management style that will restore and revitalize our public lands and waters…”
— Collin O’Mara, President and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation
