The feel of living in a small town, like Pagosa Springs, is a gift.
We stop in for a cup a coffee downtown and see familiar faces, say hello to friends and feel welcome. It is in the beauty of diversity that I find myself grateful for this gift. We need not think alike, or worship in the same way, but there is an acceptance in our common humanity that works so much of the time. Tapping into that this Sunday, the Pagosa Unitarian Universalist (UU) Fellowship continues its theme of acceptance by looking at it from the Beauty of Diversity, the title of a lay-led homily.
We will hear from different people, three very different perspectives, to weave a tapestry of stories to celebrate diversity and the beauty that can come when we open our hearts and minds to acceptance of all our relations.
Martine Colombey will share her understanding diversity from experiencing life in different countries. Born in France, growing up in Canada, to living in the U.S., Colombey will draw on her experiences and share her belief that acceptance is a key component to finding peace within. Although her formal education ended in high school, she worked as an office manager and supervisor in upper management alongside highly-educated professionals. She attributes the acceptance by her coworkers a large part of a successful professional career. Martine Colombey is a member, and serves on the Fellowship’s steering committee. I’ve heard her say her motto is; “let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.”
Adding to the stories are two young adults, Layla McRae and Reece Werby, both of whom have an articulate way of sharing their fresh, yet profound wisdom. We are fortunate to hear from these two young people as part of this service, and know we will learn and be inspired by their message.
The Pagosa UU Fellowship meets at 10:30 a.m. for our worship services the first and third Sundays, and round out the month with small group circles the second and fourth Sundays, also at 10:30 a.m. We celebrate diversity and work towards building beloved community within a spiritual setting. We begin with open minds and loving hearts, informing our helping hands to do the work of justice in the world.

The Tara Meditation Group, held most Sundays, 5:30-6:30pm. is on hiatus for the month of August. Email the Fellowship to be added to the list and receive information and notices about upcoming meditation practice.
Qigong practice is held at 1:00pm on Monday afternoons, while the Wise & Wakeful Circle, meets the second and fourth Saturdays at 10am.
