Hey Pagosa! Check out the compost bins I just built on the east side of the library across from Natural Grocers.
This is my third community compost setup that I’ve built along with the bins at the Pagosa Springs High School and the Community Gardens downtown along the river. This is the classic three-bin system with each bin built three feet squared.
Food waste in the landfill rots in an anaerobic environment which creates methane. Methane is 28 times more harmful than carbon dioxide as a warming accelerant.
We can’t stop global warming at this point but we can all do our part to slow it down by keeping our food wastes out of the landfill, driving less, and planting native plants to save our tiny friends.
