Public Tour of Cade Mountain Forest Health Initiatives Set for Friday, June 26

By Monica Nigon

San Juan Headwaters Forest Health Partnership will be hosting our first field trip of the year on Friday, June 26, from 9 to 1pm. Representatives from the San Juan National Forest-Pagosa Ranger District will show us around planned forest health initiatives on National Forest land in the Cade Mountain area.

This event is open to the public.

Meet at the CSU Extension parking area (344 US-84, Pagosa Springs) at 9am to carpool. There will plenty of opportunities for questions and discussion.

SJHFHP, also known as “Headwaters,” is a collaborative group of diverse partners that work to develop science-based priorities for the sustainable management of forests, watersheds and essential community resources. Partnership Members are people and groups representing regional business interests, conservation organizations, local and state governments, federal agencies, recreation interests, ranchers, homeowner associations, scientists and any interested citizens.

This month’s field trip takes the place of our regular monthly meeting, normally held the third Friday of every month at the Archuleta County Administration Building and virtually from 9am to 11am.
