Habitat for Humanity to Host Public Meetings in March for Potential Homeowners

“So you just show up to work, and you get a free house?”

No, that’s not quite how the process works. But Habitat homes are some of the most affordable homes in Archuleta County, thanks to contributions of labor and materials, and financial donations, from numerous community members.

Habitat for Humanity of Archuleta County is please to announce three public information session for individuals and families who are working toward home ownership. Since 2021, Habitat has assisted 11 Pagosa Springs families purchase their new homes. We’re now seeking partner families to help build and purchase homes in 2027. Some of these homes can accommodate families of up to 8 people.

Typically, household income must be no more than $81,600 per year for a family of 1-4 people. For larger households of 5-8 people, the annual household income can be no more than $107,760.

Families contribute ‘sweat equity’ by helping with construction.

If you’re interested in buying a new home equipped with net zero roof top solar panels, and having a mortgage you can afford, swing by one of our informational Monday meetings in March 2026. Light snacks will be provided.

The Habitat staff will walk you through common questions about how to apply, which documents to submit, the deadlines, the ‘sweat equity commitment’, and give you a chance to meet the Habitat crew.

The presentations will take place on Mondays — March 16, 23 and 30 — at 5:30pm at the Pagosa Community Initiative Art Studio, 550 Hot Springs Blvd — across the street from Town Hall.  The presentations are identical; no need to attend all three. Just pick the date that works best for you.

Our Family Services Team will be on site to help with childcare; please RSVP and let us know if you’re bringing kiddos by emailing us at volunteer@habitatarchuleta.org or by calling 970-264-6960. That contact info also works for general questions about Habitat and the 2027 application process.

Habitat is an Equal Housing Lender.
