ELECTION RESULTS: Archuleta County, Nov. 4

According to Archuleta County Clerk and Recorder Kristy Archuleta and Election Administrator Hazel Wedemeyer, about 38% of the active voters in Archuleta County voted in the 2025 November 4 election.

Various jurisdictions saw slightly different ballots.

Voters living within the Town of Pagosa Springs voted overwhelmingly — 76% in favor — to create a new 1% sales tax on purchases within the town limits, to be used to address repairs, maintenance and upgrades of the municipal sanitation system. The Town estimated that the new tax would generate around $3.7 million in the first year. Folks shopping within the town limits will begin paying the tax on January 1.

Every ballot in the county provided a chance to vote on state issues Propositions LL and MM, which were aimed at shoring up a program established by teh voters in 2022, to provide free lunches to all public school students. Proposition LL asked voters to permit the state keep all the taxes it collects for that program; it passed statewide with a 65% vote in favor.  In Archuleta County, about 63% of voters went with ‘Yes’.

Prop. MM would raise additional funds by further increasing taxes on the wealthiest Coloradans, and passed statewide with 58% voting in favor.  In Archuleta County, about 57% of electors voted ‘Yes’.

Archuleta County voters living within the Colorado Timber Ridge Metro District approved the elimination of term limits for Board members, with about 73% voting in favor.

These are unofficial results.

Bill Hudson began sharing his opinions in the Pagosa Daily Post in 2004 and can't seem to break the habit. He claims that, in Pagosa Springs, opinions are like pickup trucks: everybody has one.
