Some nights at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts feel less like performances and more like lightning strikes — flashes of one-of-a-kind performances that remind you why live theatre still matters. This month offers two such jolts: the return of the acclaimed ‘Master Class’ and the debut of ‘Triple Threats & Thin Walls’, a cabaret concert that’s equal parts heart, humor, and harmony.
Picture three New York roommates (performers by trade, dreamers by nature) turning their apartment sing-alongs into a full-blown show. That’s the premise (and the charm) of ‘Triple Threats & Thin Walls’, featuring Trevor Brown, Samantha Luck, and Ellie O’Hara, three of Thingamajig Theatre’s favorite artists whose talent, timing, and onstage chemistry feel as effortless as a late-night jam session. Their set list reads like a love letter to musical theatre, with a few delicious curveballs thrown in. Expect anthems from Wicked, Waitress, The Last Five Years, and Into the Woods, punctuated by inventive takes on songs from Smash, Bandstand, Bonnie and Clyde, and even Olivia Rodrigo. The result is a thrilling blend of Broadway polish and indie soul.
Trevor Brown’s dynamic tenor brings both swagger and sincerity to pieces like “Moving Too Fast” and “Someone to Fall Back On.” Samantha Luck shines in the emotionally layered “What Baking Can Do” and the comedic showstopper “Shy.” And Ellie O’Hara’s radiant belt and sly wit lift “The Wizard and I” and “On the Steps of the Palace” into showstoppers of their own.
But what truly makes ‘Triple Threats & Thin Walls’ special is the easy camaraderie — that rare, unforced connection that turns a concert into a conversation. Their shared humor, harmonies, and behind-the-scenes banter create an evening that feels spontaneous, intimate, and deeply alive. Join us for one performance only Tuesday, November 12 at 7:00pm. at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts. It’s the kind of night where a single harmony can remind you that friendship, like theatre, sounds best when it’s slightly improvised.
Following a brief intermission in its run… to make space for the wildly successful, sold-out ‘Beetlejuice JR’ which closed November 2 to rousing acclaim… ‘Master Class’ returns to the PSCA stage for four final performances only: November 8, 9, 15, and 16. Performances are scheduled for Saturdays at 7:00pm and Sundays at 3:00pm. Directed by Tim Moore and starring Laura Moore in a riveting portrayal of opera legend Maria Callas, the production captures both the brilliance and the brittleness of a woman haunted by her art. The play moves like music itself: sharp, funny, and unexpectedly vulnerable. Moore’s performance has been widely hailed as a career best.
While ‘Triple Threats & Thin Walls’ celebrates the joy of performance, ‘Master Class’ explores its cost — together forming two halves of the same artistic heart. With these back-to-back offerings, the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts reaffirms what it does best: connecting world-class artistry with local audiences hungry for both laughter and depth. Come for the music, stay for the humanity, and leave reminded that art, like friendship, is best when shared.
