Join Pagosa Peak Open School for ‘Coffeehouse Nite’ Tomorrow, for Music and Poetry

Pagosa Peak Open School — the community’s only District-authorized charter school — will host a musical and poetic ‘Coffeehouse Nite’ tomorrow, Thursday September 18 at 6pm in the school’s Creative Arts Room.

Alison Beach, Chris Haas, Ursala Hudson, Desirée M, Shelly Spotleson Sinclair and Emily Tholberg will join hosts Rain March and Bill Hudson for an evening of music and poetry in an alcohol-free environment. Your $10 donation includes free coffee, tea and pastries.

PPOS is located at 3133 Cornerstone Drive, near Walmart, right behind the Les Schwab Tire Shop.

All funds raised will benefit programs at PPOS.

The school has seen an expansion of its programs this year, with the addition of an after school theater arts program and an after school orchestra program. The low-cost ‘Pagosa Peak Strings’ orchestra program, focused on stringed instruments, is open to all children in the community, in grades 4-8.

The school also serves as home to The Forge martial arts program.

Additionally, the school is wrapping up the construction of its new ‘Playground for the People’ — an $800,000 playground project that will be open to the public, free of charge, outside of school hours. The ribbon cutting for the Playground will be celebrated with a music and food event on Friday, September 26 at 4pm. The public is invited to this free celebration.

The school’s ongoing ‘Coffeehouse Nite’ program welcomes local musicians, poets and storytellers. If you have an interest in performing at a future ‘Coffeehouse’, please contact Bill Hudson at 970-903-2673 (phone or text) or at billhudsonproductions@gmail.com
