Local Youth Invited to Action-Packed Fall & Winter Events

By Kim Lund

Middle school students in 5th and 6th grade have a full calendar of exciting opportunities ahead, as JYC (Junior Youth Challenge) rolls out a series of fun, faith-filled events held after school Fridays in the Middle School Choir Room. These events are designed to bring kids together in a safe, welcoming environment.

All events are sponsored by Child Evangelism Fellowship and are designed to create a positive space where middle schoolers can connect, grow, and have fun together. Each gathering includes engaging activities, opportunities to build friendships, and a short, meaningful Bible message relevant to everyday life.

Kicking things off in October is a high-energy GaGa Ball Tournament, Friday October 16, where students can compete for cash prizes. Open to all skill levels, the event encourages friendly competition, teamwork, and plenty of laughs. Organizers emphasize that no prior church experience is needed — just come ready to play and meet new friends.

Later in the month, students can celebrate the season at a festive Pumpkin Party, Friday October 23, featuring pumpkin painting, snacks, music, and interactive games like Bible Jeopardy. The event blends creativity and fun with a meaningful message from God’s Word, making it both entertaining and encouraging for young attendees.

November brings two unique opportunities. First, The Ultimate Survival Guide: Equipped for the Wilderness, Friday November 13, offers hands-on activities where students will learn outdoor-inspired skills such as navigation, teamwork challenges, and even making their own trail mix. The event ties these activities into a practical lesson about trusting God to provide, giving students something valuable to take home beyond the fun.

Later in the month, the Thanksgiving Bible Scavenger Hunt & Pie Contest, Friday November 20, invites students to put their detective skills to the test. Participants will race to solve clues, enjoy games and music, and compete in a favorite pie contest—all while hearing a powerful message from Scripture. Organizers promise an afternoon full of “laughs and epic memories.”

The season wraps up in December with a cozy and creative Gingerbread House Decorating Party, Friday December 11, Students will design their own gingerbread masterpieces while enjoying treats like root beer floats, music, and prizes. The event also includes a life-changing message from God’s Word, rounding out the year with a focus on both fun and faith.

With a mix of games, creativity, competition, and encouragement, JYC’s upcoming lineup offers something for every 5th and 6th grader looking for a place to belong this season. Questions or to Register: Kim Lund 308-665-5973.
