Nearly 700 employees from across Colorado gathered July 28-29 at the Omni Interlocken Hotel in Broomfield for GOAL High School’s annual Forum, a two-day event focused on professional learning, collaboration, networking, and celebration.
The Forum serves as GOAL’s largest staff gathering of the year, bringing together employees who work across the state to connect in person, learn from one another, and prepare for the upcoming school year. Throughout the event, staff participated in professional learning sessions designed to support student and staff success, team-building activities, and a networking mixer. Session topics ranged from employee wellness and leadership development to innovative strategies for engaging students and strengthening relationships with families.
In addition to professional development opportunities, teams from around Colorado contributed items to a silent auction that raised more than $2,000 for student scholarships.
“What stands out most about this year’s Forum was the passion and dedication of our staff,” said Chief Executive Officer Jill Toussaint. “Every conversation, presentation, and collaboration session reflected our collective commitment to changing lives through education. Forum is more than professional development; it is an opportunity to strengthen relationships, reinforce our values, and recharge our commitment to the students and families we serve. The impact of these few days will be felt throughout the entire school year.”
According to Lynee Zajac-Beck, GOAL’s Learning and Development Coordinator, Forum provides a unique opportunity for employees to learn and grow together.
“GOAL Forum is more than a conference; it’s an annual retreat where the entire organization comes together to connect, collaborate, and prepare for the year ahead,” said Lynee Zajac-Beck. “Our staff from across Colorado immerse themselves in new ideas, learn from each other, engage in meaningful expert-led professional development, and strengthen relationships with colleagues to better serve students. It also gives our presenters a valuable opportunity to grow as facilitators and build the skills needed to deliver high-quality in-person learning experiences.”
For many attendees, the greatest benefit of Forum is the opportunity to build personal connections with colleagues they collaborate virtually throughout the year.
“I asked so many people what the most important part of the Forum was to them,” said Chief Academic Officer Jason Hochevar. “Every single one said it was the chance to see all of the people they work with online for the rest of the year. Virtual interactions are immensely more powerful and effective when you have had a chance to get to know the other person at least once, face to face.”
As GOAL High School prepares to welcome students for another academic year, Forum serves as a reminder that a strong, connected staff is essential to providing personalized support and meaningful educational opportunities for students across Colorado.
