Lecture: Jon Ghahate, “The Pueblo Revolt: America’s First Revolution”
Description: Chimney Rock Interpretive Association (CRIA) invites the public to a free lecture given by Jon Ghahate on Tuesday, August 11th. Join us as Jon will explore the 1680 Pueblo Revolt, when Pueblo communities united to reclaim their autonomy and remove Spanish colonial forces nearly a century before the American Revolution. Jon highlights the revolt as a powerful act of sovereignty and resistance to religious oppression. Though brief, its impact strengthened Pueblo identity, language, and resilience for generations. The lecture is free to attend; however, donations are welcome. Additionally, canned goods for the church’s food pantry are greatly appreciated.
