San Juan Headwaters Forest Health Partnership (Headwaters) will be hosting the premiere of “Beyond the Embers,” a film produced by Christi Bode of Moxiecran Media at 6pm on July 8 at the Liberty Theater.
The film chronicles the August 2025 Oak Fire and historic flooding two months later in Pagosa Springs, addressing their impacts and how the community can prepare for the extremes ahead.
The film will be followed by a panel of community leaders including Fire Chief Robert Bertram, engineer Chris Pitcher, Bill Trimarco of Wildfire Adapted Partnership, Pagosa Ranger District’s Josh Peck, Pagosa Area Recreation Coalition’s Amanda Gadomski, and Headwaters’ Matt Ford.
Headwaters develops science-based, collaborative priorities for the sustainable management of forests, watersheds and essential community resources and recently partnered with Upper San Juan Watershed Enhancement Partnership to work at the intersection of watershed and forest health. Monthly meetings and field trips are held on the third Friday of each month at the Archuleta County Administration building from 9am to 11am and are open to the public.
