Firearms Training, Shooting Match, Set for Saturday, June 27

On Saturday, June 27, the Wolf Creek Gun and Bow Association will host a firearms training session and shooting match. This is open to both members and the general public.

Shooters of all abilities (beginner, intermediate and advanced) are encouraged to attend. Participants are not required to compete in the competition unless they desire to.

The shooters meeting will begin at 10am. A range safety briefing will be followed by the group being broken into small groups of handgun shooters, rifle shooters and shotgunners.

Following training sessions, a “friendly competition” will be held. For those who desire to merely watch, spectators are encouraged to attend.

Everyone present, whether participant or spectator, will be required to sign a release of liability and wear both eye and ear protection that they must bring.

Participant should bring the following:

  • Eye and ear protection
  • Firearm(s)
  • Ammunition
  • Holster/gun case
  • Snacks, lunch and nonalcoholic beverages
  • Hat and sunscreen
  • Wear range-appropriate attire with closed-toe footwear

The event will be held at the Rio Grande Sportsman Club Range, located at 1 Rifle Range Road in Del Norte.
Directions: Travel eastbound on U.S. 160. At mile marker 207.5 (approximately 6 miles east of Del Norte), turn south onto Rifle Road. Continue approximately three-quarters of a mile and you will arrive at the range.
For the safety of all, range rules require all guns to be cased or holstered and unloaded.

The Wolf Creek Gun and Bow Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Its primary mission is to develop a public-access firearms range in Archuleta County to allow community members to have a safe location to practice their firearms skills.
