I am the complainant for the Division of Real Estate complaint against Veronica Medina. When I first submitted the complaint, the DRE immediately accepted Shelley Low’s and refused to open the complaint against Veronica Medina because she is a Commissioner. I had to appeal this, because being a Commissioner does not negate a licensed broker from having to follow the law. This was the verbatim reasoning I gave to the DRE. They reluctantly opened the case.
They then stated that Veronica Medina claimed she was not an active broker in August of 2025. This is a patently absurd response from Ms. Medina as she was actively selling homes throughout this process. The DRE attempted to redefine what an active broker is for Ms. Medina while I was on the phone with them for 90 minutes. This call was recorded. I have multiple emails following up with the DRE showing that not only is Ms. Medina active under DRE rules (she must request her license be placed in inactive status), but that she was factually selling homes and advertising as an agent in real-time.
The DRE chose to find “insufficient evidence” from a 90 minute video in which Medina consistently states she works for herself. This is not possible under real estate law. As an Associate Broker, she is required to work under an Employing Broker. The DRE chose to act as though there is not sufficient evidence that she violated state law. As an elector, it is now your job to decide whether to hold public officials accountable when they misinform the public.
In October, I was told by legal professionals the only way to end the corruption in Pagosa is to use political solutions, as lawsuits for certain actions would result in costly litigation.
Dismissal by the DRE was not based on Medina being guilty or not guilty. Dismissal stated there was “insufficient” evidence to find she broke the law. This is an interpretation and not a fact. The evidence is there for all to see, on public youtube and social media channels. The video is here: https://youtu.be/M9N3dRQSXaw?is=hsjm587H3WLF0Sqx
It is up to Archuleta County if we want someone who uses the system to protect themselves when they do the wrong thing in office. For too long that system has continued, and we will continue to suffer with mismanagement.
It should be noted that hundreds of people have experienced similar outcomes for their complaints under various departments at the state level. I will be a witness testifying about this for a class action lawsuit against the Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel in August.
The outcome of the DRE complaints- both dismissed for interpreted lack of evidence- is not shocking after the DRE tried to redefine being a broker with DRE oversight based on that person’s position in government.
It is up to you to make a political decision that would remove someone who is not being held accountable under the appropriate bodies due to their attempts to redefine law during enforcement.
JD Vance’s fraud team is investigating Colorado, it would be disappointing to hear Pagosa Springs is connected to that because we choose to listen to someone actively gaming the system for her own personal interests.
Unfortunately, during severe illness, I chose to step forward to expose this, only to find out there is a pattern and practice within state-level enforcement bodies to refuse to enforce the law as written, and my complaints are far from being the only ones treated in such a manner. In speaking with hundreds of people across the state, this has become a normalized practice.
Therefore, the remedy is up to The People and how we choose to vote.
