Voters in Archuleta County could face a series of crucial decisions in coming months — about building a new school, funding our hospital, and raising more money to maintain roads and other Archuleta County services.
A free series of Community Conversations have been exploring those and other issues in May and June. The series began with a kickoff panel discussion on May 13, to be followed by separate sessions on each topic. The events are free and open to the public.
The third conversation in the series takes place on Monday, June 1, and will feature Pagosa Springs Medical Center CEO Rhonda Webb MD, discussing the financial side of operating a rural hospital and strategies for maintaining local funding at current levels.
Dr. Webb’s presentation, at 5:30pm at the PLPOA Clubhouse, 230 Port Ave, will include time for audience Q&A.
A presentation by Archuleta County on Wednesday, June 10 at 6:30pm at the Pagosa Springs High School auditorium, will focus on a potential increase to the County Lodging Tax and uses for the additional revenues.
The series is presented by Archuleta School District, Pagosa Springs Medical Center, the Pagosa Springs Community Development Corporation, the Archuleta County League of Women Voters, the Archuleta County Republican Party, and the Archuleta County Democratic Party.
