The Ruby Sisson Library Foundation and Friends is excited to announce its participation in Colorado Gives Day.
Last year, more than 95,000 donors donated $54.8 million for Colorado Gives Day, creating a powerful wave of generosity across the state benefiting nonprofits, proving Colorado Gives Day as one of the largest giving events in the nation and Colorado’s biggest day of giving.
Giving for Colorado Gives Day runs November 1 to December 9. During this period, every donation is boosted by a $1 million+ Incentive Fund and gives nonprofits the chance to win part of $100,000 in prizes made possible by Colorado Gives Foundation and its presenting sponsor.
The existing Ruby Sisson Library building was originally built in 1989, with a small addition in 2004. The population of Pagosa Springs has increased approximately four times in size since 1989. Meanwhile, Pagosa Springs has transformed into a tourist center and the library has been reclassified as a tourist community library. In order to deliver the services our growing county deserves, we need an expanded space.
The Foundation and Friends began our Mountains of Opportunity campaign to expand and renovate the library in 2021. The Huddleston Group was retained to conduct a campaign planning and feasibility study. This study clearly demonstrated the need in the community for the current expansion proposal.
Thus far, we have raised $4,300,000 of our $5,300,000 goal. In August we broke ground on phase one of the expansion and hope to complete the full project by summer of 2026. Your donation through Colorado Gives will help us to complete this project.
