‘End Citizens United’ Endorses Hickenlooper’s Reelection Campaign

This week, U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper welcomed End Citizen United’s endorsement of his 2026 Senate reelection campaign.

End Citizen United (ECU) is the prominent organization fighting to fix our democracy by getting big money out of politics and protecting the right to vote. ECU backed Hickenlooper in 2020 when he flipped Colorado’s seat blue and helped deliver democratic majority in the Senate.

“People – not corporations – should power our political campaigns,” said Hickenlooper. “Corporations are not people; they don’t have any right to unlimited spending, outside of federal limitations. It’s well past time to get big money out of politics and protect our democracy.”

“John Hickenlooper has a strong record of putting everyday Coloradans first and working to end the influence of corporate special interests in Washington,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Hickenlooper was an early adopter of the ‘No Corporate PAC’ pledge in 2019 and continues to reject corporate campaign donations. He cosponsored the For the People Act to ban dark money. And as Governor, he implemented vote by mail to make voting safe and easy for every Coloradan. We need to re-elect John Hickenlooper to continue leading the fight to get big money out of politics, and ensure the right to vote is protected for everyone. End Citizens United is proud to endorse Hickenlooper’s campaign.”

ECU is dedicated to combating the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: the corrosive impact of Big Money and attempts to block access to the ballot box. Since its founding in 2015, ECU has had over 1.4 million donors with an average donation of just $14. The group has more than four million members nationwide.

In the Senate, Hickenlooper has been fighting to pass the expansive For the People Act to end special-interest corruption of politics and return power to the voters. He also helped introduce the Freedom to Vote Act, which would improve Americans’ access to the ballot, invest in state election infrastructure, strengthen campaign finance disclosure requirements, and ensure our elections are free from interference.

As governor, Hickenlooper worked to reform Colorado’s election system to be more fair by creating online voter registration, the ability to register to vote up to and on Election Day, expanding and protecting mail-in voting, and creating independent redistricting commissions.

In addition to ECU’s endorsement, Hickenlooper recently picked up backing from League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action, GIFFORDS PAC, and 314 Action.
