During our first day serving in the community, Samaritan’s Purse had 70 local volunteers show up to lend a hand and help their neighbors.
So far, more than 40 other volunteers from all across the country have flown in to help these communities over the next several weeks.
“Samaritan’s Purse has truly been blessed to come alongside those in need in La Plata and Archuleta Counties,” said Josh Hanna, Program Manager with Samaritan’s Purse. “Serving in one of the most beautiful places in the country has been a gift – but what has touched our hearts the most are the incredible people we’ve had the privilege to meet. Their strength, kindness, and faith in the midst of hardship have inspired us every day.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to serve and will continue to be here as long as there are those who need our help.”
We have received more than 50 requests for assistance so far and are continuing to accept applications. Any homeowners in La Plata or Archuleta counties in need of free assistance with mud-outs, debris removal, or tree work are encouraged to call our Homeowner Assistance Line: (833) 747-1234.
Anyone interested in volunteering can sign up to serve by visiting spvolunteer.org or calling (970) 844-4314.
