Evacuation Notice for Riverfront Properties Through Wednesday Afternoon

Flood Warning in effect for Archuleta County through Wednesday, October 15 at 3:00pm

The Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Management is issuing a Flood Warning for Archuleta County until Wednesday, October 15 at 3:00pm. The rivers are rising and could affect property and structures.  Be aware of your surroundings and rock and mud slides.  A weather warning indicates a confirmed, current and present danger to this area. Take necessary safety precautions.

We’re experiencing severe flooding on County Road 500 right now. Please stay home if you can, and avoid the area completely.

The road is not safe to drive on — water is high and could rise quickly. Emergency crews are monitoring the situation, but for your safety:

  • Don’t drive through floodwaters
  • Stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary
  • Keep an eye on official alerts and updates

Let friends and neighbors know, especially anyone who might not have easy access to news.

Archuleta County Landfill is closed today, Monday, October 13, due to the weather and the safety of staff and our residents.

Stay safe, everyone!

All low lying areas near rivers and water courses are in a pre-evacuation status.
