Hunting at Fort Carson, Piñon Canyon Suspended During Federal Shutdown

All hunting on Fort Carson (GMU 591) and the Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site (GMU 142) continues to be suspended due to the federal government shutdown.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife will be offering a full refund and a preference point restoration to affected license holders for the upcoming mule deer muzzleloader season, Saturday through Oct 19 in Piñon Canyon.

Hunting licenses must be returned to a CPW office in person, or an Application for License Refund must be completed and mailed with the license before the season starts, postmarked on or before Oct 11.

Included Hunt Codes, listed on the hunting license are: Buck Mule deer, D-M-142-02-M, and Doe Mule Deer, D-F-142-02-M. For more information call the CPW offices in Colorado Springs (719) 227-5200, or in Pueblo at (719) 561-5300.

Other big game hunting seasons may be considered depending on the length of the shutdown.
