TOWN NEWS: 90 Additional Parking Spaces Available to Downtown Shoppers

An additional 90 parking spaces are now available to the shopping and dining public in historic downtown Pagosa Springs, thanks to a partnership between the Town of Pagosa Springs and Ronnie and Terry Urbanczyk. The Urbanczyks own the former Archuleta County Courthouse and adjacent parking lot at 473 and 497 San Juan St.

“The Town of Pagosa Springs is excited to partner with Ronnie and Terry Urbanczyk to provide additional parking for downtown shoppers and diners during the reconstruction of U.S. 160 downtown. We appreciate this gesture, which makes access to downtown businesses much easier for residents and visitors,” said Mayor Shari Pierce.

The Colorado Department of Transportation, in conjunction with the Town of Pagosa Springs, the Town of Pagosa Springs Sanitation General Improvement District, and the Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District, is in the midst of an approximate $32 million project to upgrade the utilities, drainage, and highway surfaces in the downtown corridor. The project is expected to be completed in late 2026.

“By opening these 90 parking spots to the public, we are making it easier for locals and visitors to patronize our downtown merchants who have been impacted by the construction,” Pierce added. “We thank the Urbanczyks for their generous contribution to support our downtown businesses.
