PHOTO ESSAY: Opening of the 2025 County Fair

Happy August 2025. Time For the 74th Annual Archuleta County Fair. So many activities and joy for all. The weekend is packed with activities and Thursday was a great start. The Exhibit Hall has plenty of displays and creativity by so many talented children and adults.

There are games you can play all over the Fairgrounds -you have to get the schedule to keep track. A scavenger hunt, open mic night and a very competitive corn hole tournament. The kids blow-up barrel race is just hilarious.

4-H is alive and well and there are so many participants, the new Hughes Pavillion is packed with activity.

Don’t miss a meal with all the good food trucks.

Friday will include the Rabbit Show, Lamb Show and Chicken Show in the morning and the famous Steer Show will be in the evening. Watch for the BMX Shows, pie eating contest and demos by our great Fire Department and the Sheriffs Department challenges us with some agility exercises. Don’t forget the Tough enough to Wear Pink event with the Pink Pony Race and Rodeo. Live music a hypnotist and the ever popular WildMan Phil and his exotic animals.

Saturday is the biggest day and everything is in full gear. The 4-H Chuckwagon is always incredible and the energy at the annual 4-H Live Auction is over the top. The big dance with Brett Hendrix as the headliner under the big top. Come one come all — just get to the Archuleta County Fairgrounds be a part of the excitement.
