Paving operations are starting in downtown Pagosa Springs.
The Highway 160 reconstruction project is about to hit a major milestone with concrete paving work beginning this week.
The paving will predominantly take place at night. Trucks will start rolling in around 7pm and continue until 7am. Paving operations will begin at the east end of the project, near 1st Street, and continue to the west.
Work Activity This Week
1st to 3rd Streets – Installation of light pole foundations continues.
2nd and 4th Street intersections – On the north side of the street, intersections remain closed until utility work and paving are complete.
3rd to 4th Street/Pagosa Middle School – Utility work will begin in front of the school, followed by sidewalk demolition; the plan is to have utility work, sidewalk reconstruction and paving completed in front of the Pagosa Middle School before the fall semester begins on September 2.
Lewis Street and Tennyson Park – In mid-August, excavation near the sculpture park is planned for geothermal utilities. Pedestrians need to plan for sidewalk detours around the work at this location in the near future.
Watch Where You Walk
Pedestrian crosswalks will be open at 1st, 3rd and 4th Streets. Mid-block crossings between 4th and 5th remain closed, but the crosswalk at 5th Street remains open.
