Join Healthy Archuleta this Saturday, July 12, for the next Garden Conversation.
These Garden Conversations are from 9 – 10am at the Pagosa Springs Community Garden, located downtown in Centennial Park next to the Growing Domes. Garden Conversations are a place for community members to enjoy the garden, talk with fellow gardeners, and have a conversation with local gardening experts. Bring a beverage and a chair and join us for a fun morning in the garden.
Starting this month, the Pagosa Springs Community Garden is also offering Garden Adventures for families.
Garden Adventures is a family-friendly way to get kids learning and having fun in the garden. Aimed at elementary-aged children and their families, this program is all about getting to know our downtown community garden — how plants grow, why gardening is good for us, and how it can help our whole town. We have four Saturday morning sessions planned over the summer, with hands-on activities that are easy to join — starting at 9am. Kids will need to come with an adult who stays to hang out and help out if needed.
Come grow with us! We will try to have ample supplies; however, these activities are first-come, first-served. Please plan on arriving on time. There is no charge for supplies.
July 19th: Make a plant buddy! We will be decorating small pots with googly eyes and paint to create our own plant buddies to take home. We will fill the pots with indoor-friendly plants that grow into our buddies’ hair!
August 2nd: Brighten the Garden! Our garden needs some new signs. Come help members of the community garden paint signs and rocks to add color and information to our garden. This activity is appropriate for most ages. Adults are encouraged to participate.
August 16th: We will be exploring the garden and harvesting our artist tools. We will be using flowers, leaves, sticks, and whatever else nature provides to make beautiful paintings to take home.
August 30th: Stained Glass Mosaic. We will be using nature and craft supplies to make our own stained ‘glass’ windows. Come create a beautiful piece of art and capture the last signs of summer to take home with you.
