The Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado, in partnership with the Pagosa Springs Golf Club, is sponsoring the last of four 19th Hole Concerts, finishing this Thursday, June 26.
The featured artist this week is Jazz specialist Max Miller and the featured nonprofit is the San Juan Headwaters Forest Health Partnership.
“San Juan Headwaters Forest Health Partnership is a collaborative group committed to a better, healthier future by developing science-based, collaborative priorities for the sustainable management of forests, watersheds and essential community resources,” explains Alex Handlof of the Mountain Studies Institute. “Our group is composed of people and groups representing regional business interests, conservation organizations, local and state governments, federal agencies, recreation interests, ranchers, homeowner associations, scientists, and any interested citizens. Our work directly leads to additional funding, resources, and projects that protect our infrastructure, water, homes, and the health of our forests and natural surroundings.”
Food from Square Top BBQ, beer, wine will be available for purchase. No outside food, drink or pets will be allowed. Concertgoers should bring a camping chair or blanket — or both — to take full advantage of a summer evening in the Rocky Mountains.
The 19th Hole Concert is from 5:30-7:30pm, at the Pagosa Springs Golf Club. The cover charge is a $10 donation which supports the four nonprofits selected through the month of June. Corporate sponsors cover event expenses, allowing all proceeds at the end of the series to be pooled and distributed equally to the featured organizations. The collaborative approach to the concerts is vital to their success. The past non-profits were Archuleta Seniors Inc., Project Sanctuary, and Build Pagosa. Last Thursday’s attendance was 275!
