Explore Volunteer Opportunities at Chimney Rock Open House

Are you looking for a meaningful way to spend your time, connect with others, and enjoy the natural beauty of Southwest Colorado? The Chimney Rock Interpretive Association (CRIA) invites you to explore how you can make a difference by volunteering at Chimney Rock National Monument.

Join us for our Volunteer Open House on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 11:00am to Noon at the Pine River Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive, Bayfield, CO. Meet the CRIA team, learn more about the Monument’s volunteer programs, and find the perfect way to get involved.

Volunteering at Chimney Rock is more than just giving your time—it’s about sharing stories, history, and experiences with people from around the world. Whether you’re intrigued by archaeology, love engaging with visitors, or want to support youth education and public programs, there’s a place for you here.

From leading interpretive tours and assisting with astronomy and cultural programs to working as a Mesa or Plaza Host or supporting educational and retail activities, volunteers play a vital role in preserving and promoting the Monument. You can even help with special events like the Lecture Series or participate in hands-on experiences like the Life at Chimney Rock program.

With a variety of roles and a flexible schedule, CRIA offers volunteering options to match your interests and availability. Whether you have a few hours to spare or want to contribute throughout the season, you’ll find opportunities to get involved at your own pace.

Volunteering with CRIA is a fulfilling way to connect with your community, make new friends, and be part of something bigger. Help us protect and share this incredible site—rich in history, culture, and natural wonder.

CRIA is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that offers interpretive programs at Chimney Rock National Monument in partnership with the USDA Forest Service and the San Juan National Forest. For more information see the CRIA website at www.chimneyrockco.org or call (970) 731-7133.
